I personally believe that more and more people are taking the same track as many others are and going independent or nonpartisan. They’re all waking up to the fact that this two party system, we find ourselves under, is divisive and archaic.

I agree with your additional statement. If you’re looking for statistics, I’d start with this site: Their personal slant is somewhat liberal, but they are adamant about keeping their statistical metrics as clean as humanly possible. I believe them — they were exactly right about the 2008 election.
